I recently heard about someone who updated their Linkedin Profile and the company got wind of it and because they were so valuable, they got a 15% preemptive raise without changing jobs! So, keep it up-to-date always and make it reflective of both your professional qualifications and personal interests. Having a great Linkedin Profile bio that showcases who you are as an individual will increase your visibility on the platform and make sure recruiters take notice when they come across your page.

You should also strive to keep your profile active by posting regularly and engaging with other users. Share content that is relevant to your field, comment on posts, and join industry groups related to what you do – these are all great ways to demonstrate that you’re actively engaged in the community and establish yourself as an expert in your field.

Be Specific About What You’re Looking For

When searching for jobs on Linkedin, don’t just rely on keywords or generic searches – be specific about what type of role or industry you’re looking for. Use filters like location, job title, seniority level, experience level, etc., so that you only get results that have the potential to be a good fit for what you’re looking for. Recruiters are among the best networkers on Linkedin and even if you don’t even work in the area that you believe that the Recruiter works in remember the above, and those Recruiters know other Recruiters, many of them! Connecting with many highly connected Recruiters even if in another field will raise your visibility.

Linkedin can be an incredibly useful platform for finding new job opportunities if used correctly! By optimizing your profile, being specific about what type of roles/industries you want to explore further, and networking with other professionals online, and connecting with other strategically, you’ll set yourself up for success when it comes time to start searching for a new role or advancing within your existing one.
