5 Questions People Ask a Recruiter at Every Networking Event (and My Answers)

“No one ever listened himself out of a job.” ~ President Calvin Coolidge

“There’s a difference between hearing people and listening to them.” ~ John Maxwell

I love a good in-person networking event: meeting people, hearing an amazing speaker, shaking hands. I highly recommend it. Still, in the era of LinkedIn, a lot of networking now starts online and finishes over coffee. Either way, when people find out I am a recruiter, they often ask the same five questions.

1. What do you recruit?

It is the most common question asked of any recruiter. Our company is a little different because we have recruiting specialists in so many different fields.

2. How is the job market?

For great people, there is always a market. Companies still compete hard for proven leaders, and many of the best searches are confidential and never get posted publicly.

3. Where do you recruit?

We are Joseph Michaels International, so we work globally, but 80% to 90% of our work is in the US.

4. How long have you been recruiting?

All my life. Joseph Michaels International since 1990.

5. What levels do you hire for?

75K to 750K base pay.

Now one question for you…

Hiring? We can help.
